Synposis:

 

This is the 135 year story of how a small band of foreign classic musicians has turned into one of the great Orchestras in the world.

 

It is the modern story of one of the great Cities in the world as it transforms itself –  a story of extraordinary highs and lows.

It is the ancient story of the relationship between the West and China, and China and the West.

 

And at heart it is the story of how music transforms people’s lives, how it inspires and protects, drives and soothes: a story of profound emotions, terrible tragedies and  extraordinary change, all encompassed by a belief in music.

This rich pulsing history will be woven into the contemporary life of  an Orchestra on the brink of its next great step:  the opening in September 2014 of the remarkable Shanghai Concernt Hall, bringing to a climax the tales of how  remarkable people have lived to create harmony.
